Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has publicly supported Nigerian music mogul Don Jazzy’s recent stance on DNA testing. Don Jazzy, born Michael Ajere, recently made headlines by suggesting that DNA testing should take precedence over traditional baby naming ceremonies.
Don Jazzy’s Bold Take on DNA Testing and Family Traditions
In a series of Instagram Stories, Don Jazzy explained his viewpoint, arguing that confirming a child’s biological parentage through DNA testing is more important than following cultural customs like baby naming ceremonies. According to him, the need for certainty in paternity should take priority over the social celebration of a child’s birth.
Don Jazzy’s comments have brought to light a larger conversation about modern family values versus traditional practices. The music icon’s stance has resonated with some, who view DNA tests as a logical step toward building transparent relationships, while others see it as an overreach into personal matters.
Verydarkman, known for his outspoken nature, quickly endorsed Don Jazzy’s position. Reflecting on his own past advocacy for DNA testing, VDM shared that he faced criticism when he previously suggested DNA testing after the passing of Nigerian singer Mohbad. VDM had proposed that Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, undergo a DNA test to aid investigations into her late husband’s suspicious death, a statement that drew backlash at the time.
“When I was saying DNA is very important in all family matters, people were against me then,” VDM expressed on social media. “Now, even celebrities are saying the same thing.” For VDM, the recent support from a respected figure like Don Jazzy offers a sense of vindication, as he feels his stance on DNA testing is now validated within the public sphere.
VDM used the opportunity to highlight what he believes is an important issue in today’s society: the need for verification in familial relationships. “Trust alone should not define family relationships,” he argued.
“DNA tests are essential for peace of mind and clarity in this day and age.” VDM believes that DNA testing should no longer be seen as a divisive or extreme measure but as a practical approach to ensuring clarity in relationships.
