Tim Sherwood Backs Arsenal to Challenge Liverpool for Premier League Glory

Former Premier League player and manager Tim Sherwood has singled out Arsenal as the only team capable of rivaling Liverpool for the Premier League title this season. Speaking on Generation xG, Sherwood declared Manchester City’s title defense effectively over and highlighted the Gunners as Liverpool’s primary competition.

Sherwood, a Blackburn Rovers legend and former Tottenham Hotspur and Watford player, emphasized Arsenal’s potential under Mikel Arteta. He praised the Gunners’ recent form and the return of star player Martin Ødegaard.

“It’s done and dusted in terms of City,” Sherwood said, as reported by TBR Football. “It’s difficult to write them off, but you can’t see them going 15 games without losing. Anyone who finishes above Liverpool will win the Premier League, and the only team who can possibly do that, for me, is Arsenal.”

Under Arteta’s guidance, Arsenal has finished second in the league for two consecutive seasons, narrowly losing out to Manchester City. This year, with the squad showing renewed form and consistency, Sherwood believes they are in a strong position to mount a serious challenge.

While Sherwood’s comments underline Arsenal’s potential, the question remains whether the Gunners can maintain their form and push Liverpool all the way. The Reds, led by Jurgen Klopp, have been in imperious form, making the task for Arsenal a formidable one.
