The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has publicly declared Nigerian singer and social media figure Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, a wanted person.
NAPTIP announced the move via its official Instagram account on Friday, June 27th, 2025. The agency stated Okoye is wanted “in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.”
The agency’s notice urged the public: “Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately.” It provided contact details: phone number 07030000203 and email info@naptip.gov.ng.
This action follows earlier attempts by NAPTIP to question Okoye. On May 28th, 2025, the agency summoned him. A letter, signed by NAPTIP Head of Cybercrime Response Team Ngamaraju Mangzha, requested Okoye appear at its Abuja headquarters on May 30th, 2025. This summons related to questioning over Okoye’s own claim of involvement with a 15-year-old girl.
NAPTIP later confirmed receiving a response from Okoye. In this response, he reportedly sought to reschedule the questioning to June 26th, 2025, citing existing commitments and responsibilities.
However, NAPTIP rejected this proposed date. In a subsequent letter signed by Hakeem Lawal, NAPTIP Director of ICT and Coordinator of the Cybercrime Response Team, the agency insisted Okoye appear on June 2nd, 2025, instead.
