Oga Sabinus reacts to UNIPORT final year student’s who bags a 14-Year jail sentence. Nigerian comedian and skit maker known as Oga Sabinus, has expressed his thoughts on the recent news of a UNIPORT final-year student who was being sentenced to 14 years in jail.

The student, Henry Nathaniel Ekanem, was convicted for defrauding a foreign national by name Diana Roskov of 22 US dollars ($22), approximately N36,000, among other fraudulent internet activities.

The Incident: What Happened?

Henry Nathaniel Ekanem, a final-year student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), was found guilty of obtaining money under false pretenses and impersonation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned him on seven counts, leading to his conviction.

The court sentenced him to 14 years in prison, a decision that has stirred significant debate online.

Nigerian comedian and skit maker Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, aka Oga Sabinus also known as Mr Funny  has left people talking over his comment after the federal high court in Port Harcourt sentenced a young man named Henry Nathaniel Ekanem to 14 years imprisonment

He expressed his disbelief at the harshness of the sentence, especially considering the relatively small amount involved in the fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Ekanem on seven charges of obtaining money under false pretences and impersonation.

Sabinus, in a reaction, seemed to be against the court judgement as he wrote in a comment via his verified X account,

“This country nawa o.”

Sabinus’ reaction has resonated with many Nigerians who feel that the punishment does not fit the crime.
