Nigerian music star, Rema, sets a new record as the first African artiste to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, an American magazine.
The American magazine is known for covering music, politics, and pop culture, announced Rema as their cover star for its April edition.
The magazine described him as an Afrobeats star who is pushing boundaries on the global stage.
Mavin Records, Rema’s record label, celebrated the achievement with a post on Instagram, calling him “the Afrobeats visionary.”
Following the announcement, Rema gave an electrifying performance at the Rolling Stone concert. He wowed the audience with hit songs like Dumebi, Woman, and Calm Down.
This big win comes shortly after Rema also appeared on the cover of Dazed Magazine, another major international platform.
Born in Benin City in 2000, Rema rose to fame in 2019 after signing with Mavin Records. His music has helped put Afrobeats on the global map, with Calm Down featuring Selena Gomez breaking multiple records.
The song became the most-streamed Afrobeats track ever, earning several platinum certifications. It was also the first African-led song to surpass a billion streams on Spotify and topped international charts.
In another historic moment, Rema became the first African artiste to perform at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in 2023, entertaining fans in Paris, France.
