Portable Prevented from Performing at Taye Currency’s Ibadan Concert

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was unable to perform at Fuji star Taye Currency’s concert in Ibadan on January 2, 2025.

The decision came after strong opposition from some residents of the city, who objected to Portable’s recent controversial comments about Ibadan.

Portable, famous for his hit song Zazu, was scheduled to be one of the performers at the concert.

Tensions arose when a video circulated online showing a man from Ibadan warning the singer not to step foot in the city. The man also urged Taye Currency to remove Portable from the lineup to avoid potential trouble.

The backlash stemmed from Portable’s earlier remarks about his ex-girlfriend, during which he claimed there were no houses with POP ceilings in Ibadan.

As a result, Portable did not attend the event, and Taye Currency’s concert proceeded without the controversial singer.
