Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, has died at the age of 94.
A family source confirmed Dantata died early Friday morning, Nigerian time. The death occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. in a hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The source stated Dantata died after a brief illness.
Born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, Aminu Dantata was a major figure in Nigeria’s business community for many decades. He was widely recognized as a respected industrialist and played a significant role in the development of Nigeria’s private sector.
Dantata is survived by seven children and numerous grandchildren. One of his sons is Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata.
The family source indicated that funeral arrangements will be announced later.
