The National Agency for Food, Drug and Administration Control (NAFDAC) has shut down a fish cold room in Ado-Ekiti following reports that the facility was vending spoiled and potentially hazardous fish.
Mrs. Stella Dosunu, NAFDAC’s Coordinator in Ekiti State, explained that the action came after a customer purchased fish at the cold room and discovered it was unfit for consumption.
The proprietor, identified only as Mr. Olatunji, attributed the lapse to recent power outages affecting refrigeration.
A small group of customers, who had gathered at the sealed premises, urged regulators to give Mr. Olatunji another chance.
