After a prolonged struggle and heated disputes, Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has agreed to undergo a DNA test for her son, Liam.
The decision follows months of pressure from her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, who has persistently questioned Liam’s paternity, sparking public debate and scrutiny.
Wunmi’s lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, shared updates on the contentious situation, revealing new insights into the intense family drama. In a recent court session in Lagos, Akingbolu explained that Wunmi’s initial reluctance to proceed with the DNA test was rooted in the overwhelming pressures she faced after Mohbad’s passing.
According to Akingbolu, Mr. Aloba’s insistence on the test and subsequent media coverage created a relentless environment that left Wunmi and her young son in a vulnerable position.
In a public video statement, Akingbolu accused Mr. Aloba of leveraging media platforms to cast aspersions on his daughter-in-law and grandson, effectively turning a personal family matter into a widely publicized dispute.
He emphasized that Wunmi’s ultimate decision to proceed with the DNA test was not out of obligation, as no court order required it, but as a way to uphold her son’s dignity and her late husband’s legacy.
