Manchester United are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño to secure the signing of 17-year-old left-back Diego León. The move is part of the club’s strategy to strengthen manager Ruben Amorim’s squad with promising young talent.
The news was shared by renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday through his X account (formerly Twitter).
“Manchester United are in active talks with Cerro Porteño for 17-year-old left-back Diego León as talent for the future,” Romano revealed. “Similar to Sekou Koné deal last summer, Man Utd keep looking at talents from abroad, and a $4 million deal is being discussed also with León’s agents.”
The pursuit of León mirrors Manchester United’s recent approach of scouting young international prospects, such as Sekou Koné, who was signed last summer. The proposed deal, reportedly valued at $4 million, signifies the club’s continued investment in youth as they aim to build a sustainable future for the squad.
This development comes as Manchester United prepare for their Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzeň on Thursday. Ruben Amorim’s side will look to bounce back from their recent 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
