An Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded 50-year-old Linus Anozie in a correctional centre over an alleged sexual assault involving an 18-year-old physically challenged man.
Anozie, whose address was not disclosed, faces a one-count charge of unlawful anal intercourse without consent.
Prosecutor ASP Aminu Isaac told the court that on June 9 at approximately 11 a.m., Anozie committed the offence at Ogunlana Estate, Akin Ogunlewe Street, in the Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.
According to the charge, the victim, whose name has been withheld, did not consent to the act, which is contrary to Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate B. A. Sonuga did not take a plea from the defendant. He ordered that Anozie be held in a correctional facility and directed that the case file be forwarded to the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. The matter was adjourned to July 31, pending receipt of that advice.
