Labour Party Demands Accountability After APC Spokesperson’s Threat to Peter Obi

The Chairperson of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee, Senator Nenadi Usman, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be held accountable after its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made threats against former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Usman warned that Morka’s remarks, made during a national television appearance on January 5, 2025, would not be taken lightly and could lead to consequences if any harm comes to Obi or his associates.

In a statement, Usman condemned Morka’s comments, describing them as a direct threat to Obi’s life and a violation of democratic principles. She emphasized that the Labour Party would not allow such threats to go unchallenged.

“Mr. Felix Morka’s incendiary remarks pose a danger to the life, reputation, and business of Mr. Peter Obi,” Usman said. “Such rhetoric undermines national unity, disrupts democratic discourse, and jeopardizes lives. We will hold them accountable for any harm that comes to Obi.”

The Labour Party Chairperson also called for an immediate investigation into the alleged threat and demanded an apology from the ruling APC. She emphasized that threats of violence and intimidation have no place in a functioning democracy.

“Security agencies must act swiftly to investigate this matter. Political leaders should focus on the country’s pressing issues, not engage in harmful rhetoric,” Usman added. “The APC must apologize to Obi and retract Morka’s statements. Anything less would support this reckless behavior.”

Senator Usman reiterated that the Labour Party stands by Obi, who she described as a symbol of hope for Nigerians, and vowed to continue pushing for a transparent and just Nigeria.
