Kanye West recently shared his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime performance, calling it his favorite since Michael Jackson’s era. He admired the show’s simplicity and the energy during “HUMBLE.”
West noted that while some online critics labeled it the “worst Halftime Show,” everyone he spoke to in person considered it the best.
In his comments, West controversially compared Drake to R. Kelly, suggesting that influential Black artists are often pitted against each other.
He responded, “One Black superstar is in jail. The next Black superstar is on stage. They take one rapper to take another rapper down. You gotta remember Drake was almost like the new generation R. Kelly.”
This comparison has caused reactions, especially considering R. Kelly’s current imprisonment on serious charges.
West’s remarks also touch upon the ongoing feud between Lamar and Drake, which intensified after Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”
Drake has responded by filing a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group for distributing the track, marking the latest development in their dispute.
