The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended Samha M. Inuwa, a popular actress in the Kannywood film industry, for one year.
This action was taken after the board accused her of violating regulations related to indecent dressing and the sharing of inappropriate content.
According to a statement issued by the board, the actress was warned multiple times about her conduct, which allegedly included vulgar displays and inappropriate language in her videos. Despite the warnings, she reportedly continued to act in ways that contravened the board’s guidelines.
As a result, the board has also revoked her operating licenses and barred the censorship of any films featuring her during the suspension period. This decision, they stated, aligns with their mandate to uphold religious, cultural, and moral values in Kano State’s film industry.
Public complaints about Inuwa’s behavior reportedly influenced the decision, with citizens expressing concerns about how her actions might contradict societal norms. The board emphasized its commitment to enforcing moral standards and maintaining discipline within the Kannywood industry.
This move is part of a broader effort by the board to preserve Kano’s cultural heritage and promote responsible content creation in the state.
