The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled a mop-up session of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for Saturday, 28 June, to accommodate 96,838 candidates.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, said eligible candidates should print their examination notification slips from Monday, 23 June, ahead of the mop-up exercise.
The Board will reschedule 5,096 spill-over candidates and those who failed biometric verification during the main exercise.
Dr. Benjamin added that, under a special dispensation for absentees, 91,742 candidates who missed either or both the main and resit examinations have also been invited to sit this one-off mop-up test.
All 96,838 candidates will be distributed across 183 centres nationwide, with additional candidates placed on standby.
The morning session begins at 8:00 am, and Dr. Benjamin urged those seated in that slot to arrive at least 90 minutes before the start time.
Beyond giving absentees and affected candidates another opportunity, JAMB intends the mop-up exam to help identify impersonators.
“Institutions of apprehended undergraduates are being notified of their students’ misconduct to invoke violations of the matriculation oath,” the statement said.
Individuals caught impersonating will face prosecution under the Examination Malpractices Act of 1999, which provides for imprisonment of offenders and, in some cases, their parents.
To safeguard the process, JAMB has suspended or delisted 113 computer-based testing (CBT) centres implicated in technical deficiencies or sharp practices during previous exercises. Candidates whose usual exam towns have been deactivated will be reassigned to the nearest available centres.
The Board also thanked the State Security Service (SSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their “extraordinary” efforts in investigating identity-theft and examination malpractice syndicates.
These joint operations have led to the arrest and prosecution of tens of individuals, including a handful of JAMB officials, professional exam fraudsters, and members of illicit tutorial-centre networks.
Candidates are advised to monitor JAMB’s official website and social-media channels for any further updates.
