Heartland FC’s assistant coach, Emmanuel Olowo, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for their Matchday 14 clash against Kwara United. The highly anticipated fixture is set to take place today in Ilorin, with both teams eyeing crucial points in the Nigerian league.
Acknowledging the challenge posed by their opponents, Olowo admitted that the match would be demanding but remained optimistic about the “Naze Millionaires” securing a favorable outcome.
“As a team, we are prepared as usual. The performance of Heartland FC in recent games demonstrates how ready the players are for the task ahead. We are ready to compete,” Olowo shared with Heartland Media.
Reflecting on past encounters between the two teams, Olowo highlighted the competitive nature of the fixture, noting that Heartland has had positive results in Ilorin before. He is hopeful this tradition will continue.
“The fixture has always been fascinating in the past. Previously, we have earned points here, and I believe today won’t be an exception,” he said.
Olowo also compared the upcoming game to last season’s corresponding fixture, where the stakes differed significantly. While Heartland had already faced relegation, Kwara United was fighting to retain their league status, a dynamic that led to a less intense effort from Heartland.
“Before the last season’s game, we already knew we were relegated, but Kwara United needed the game to remain in the league. We came into the game too casual. This season is a different ball game. We just need to climb up little by little, and definitely, we are going to give it all,” he added.
