Four men were taken into custody following an armed robbery at a student-populated neighbourhood in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to police sources, the assailants stormed the home of Abdulrazak Dotunji in Oke Odo before residents raised the alarm.
Local officers responded swiftly to the call and confronted the intruders. Three suspects were apprehended at the scene, while one managed to flee.
During a subsequent stop-and-search operation near Sanrab junction, on the University of Ilorin axis, police intercepted a fourth suspect. One member of the group remains on the run.
Authorities recovered a Bajaj motorcycle believed to have been used in the operation, along with a knife, two industrial oxygen cylinders and other items.
All four detainees are being held at the Kwara State Police Command headquarters in Ilorin.
Command spokeswoman SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the arrests on Wednesday, naming the suspects as Danjuma Abubakar, Alkassim Abubakar, Mohammed Ibrahim and Mohammed Awal.
“Yes, it is true and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplices,” she said.
