A devastating fire broke out at the Christ Apostolic Church parish in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday night, leaving several worshippers trapped inside.
The incident happened around 9:30 pm at Wisdom Estate, Road 1G, Olohunda Road, in Lagelu Local Government Area. Sources confirmed to journalists on Saturday morning that the church was hosting a Friday vigil when the fire started.
An eyewitness shared, “The incident happened around 9:30pm, while we were preparing for the vigil. Some worshippers had already slept off to rest before the prayers when the fire started.”
A church member, who wished to remain anonymous, added, “People were still inside the church when the fire broke out.”
As of the time of this report, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but investigations are ongoing. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far.
Confirming the incident, Akinyemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services, said, “Our men were there based on information from one Kunle Junaid.”
