Nigerian Afrobeat artist Asake has recently made notable changes that have left fans both intrigued and concerned. On Saturday, he shared a video from his studio session, teasing upcoming projects. His noticeably shorter hairstyle departing from his trademark dreadlocks captured fans immediate attention.
Asake’s dreadlocks have been a part of his public image, symbolizing his unique style within the Afrobeat scene. The sudden change prompted a flurry of reactions across social media platforms. One fan expressed concern, “This Asake’s new look is disturbing! I hope he’s fine wherever he is.” Another questioned, “What’s happening to Asake?”
Asake also made notable alterations to his Instagram profile on December 26. He removed any mention of YBNL the record label founded by Olamide from his bio, replacing it with the title “creative director.”
He unfollowed all accounts on the platform, including Olamide’s, igniting discussions about potential changes in his professional affiliations.
As of now, neither Asake nor representatives from YBNL have issued official statements addressing these changes.
Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, has grown within the Nigerian music industry, earning acclaim for hits like “Mr. Money” and “Sungba.”
