Nigerian veteran musician, Eldee The Don, has made a remarkable revelation about his family’s technological legacy, claiming that his father was instrumental in connecting Nigeria to the internet for the first time.
During a recent interview on the Adesope Live show, Eldee highlighted his father’s pioneering role in the country’s technological development. According to the singer, his father not only established Nigeria’s first-ever cyber cafe in Lagos but also provided internet services to major oil companies, government agencies, and other institutions.
Eldee explained, “Thankfully, I had a dad who was in technology. My dad was a pioneer in his own space as well. That man was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet.”
The singer added that despite his father’s groundbreaking contributions, his name remains relatively unknown because “he wasn’t that guy who wanted to put himself out there.”
Sharing further details, Eldee stated, “The very first cyber cafe in Lagos was set up by my dad. The very first connection for Mobil, CBN, and government agencies, my dad was doing all of that.”
He credited his father’s work for providing him with early access to technology, which he says gave him a significant advantage in his music career. Growing up with access to advanced tools, Eldee revealed that his family home had a music studio, which became central to his creative process.
“At that time, we had access to technology that wasn’t really available. So having all of that, I had a studio in our house where the music is being produced,” he said.
