At the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 24, 2025, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) withdrew its arrest warrant against Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as EeZee Tee, the former manager of renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
The legal contention between Chinwo and EeZee Tee centers on allegations of financial impropriety. Chinwo has accused her former manager of diverting $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and events without proper disclosure, failing to remit her rightful share.
In response, EeZee Tee has refuted these claims, asserting that the dispute is contractual rather than criminal. He emphasized that the existing contract between them has neither been invalidated nor declared fraudulent.
EeZee Tee’s legal counsel, Onyekachi Ubani, argued that the EFCC overstepped its bounds by obtaining the initial arrest order, highlighting that the matter pertains to a civil contract dispute.
During Friday’s proceedings, the EFCC, represented by lead counsel Bilikisu Buhari, formally requested the withdrawal of the arrest warrant.
Justice Alexander Owoeye, presiding over the case, granted the request and adjourned the sitting to February 14, 2025.
