Lagos, Nigeria – Ten individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The operation, conducted on November 22, targeted locations within Adewale Estate and Sea Side Estate in the Badore area of Lagos State.
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests in an official statement released on Monday in Abuja.
“Their arrest followed credible intelligence on the activities of some members of an organised cybercrime syndicate suspected to be involved in computer-related fraud,” Oyewale stated.
The raid led to the recovery of several high-value items, including luxury cars, mobile devices, and other electronics. The EFCC disclosed that the suspects have already provided statements regarding their alleged involvement in cybercrime activities.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. The EFCC has assured the public that they will face legal proceedings once the investigative process is concluded.
