Dapper Music & Entertainment has addressed recent allegations following the departure of Crown Uzama, better known by his stage name Shallipopi. The artist, who recently announced his exit from the label, accused Dapper Music of distrust, financial mismanagement, and infringing on artists’ rights.
In a detailed statement released via Instagram, the record label refuted the claims, emphasizing its dedication to transparency, fairness, and ethical practices. The label provided its account of the events surrounding Shallipopi’s exit, shedding light on efforts to maintain a positive and professional relationship.
According to Dapper Music, following the success of Shallipopi’s debut album, the artist was granted the opportunity to renegotiate his contract. With full legal representation, the parties reached an agreement on October 28, 2024. The updated terms allowed Shallipopi the freedom to explore external opportunities while preserving a mutually beneficial collaboration.
The label expressed its surprise at the allegations, stating it had provided clear and detailed financial records to Shallipopi. Furthermore, it noted that it is fully cooperating with auditors engaged by the artist to address any concerns.
In addition to Shallipopi’s claims, the statement also responded to accusations involving another artist, Muyeez, who was allegedly signed as a minor. Dapper Music clarified that Muyeez’s contract was signed by his legal guardian and appropriately witnessed, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
