A couple in Lagos faces charges after their teenage housemaid accused them of sexual assault and forcing an abortion against her wishes.
Clement Frank, 42, and his wife Mary Frank, 38, married for 15 years and reportedly without children, brought a 17-year-old girl from their hometown in Akwa Ibom State to work as their housemaid at their residence on Kareem Street, Ejigbo.
According to the allegations, Clement Frank impregnated the minor after her arrival. When Mary Frank discovered the pregnancy, she allegedly took the maid to St James Hospital, also located in Ejigbo, and arranged for a doctor to terminate the pregnancy.
The teenage maid reportedly raised an alarm at the hospital, stating she had wanted to keep the baby. Her complaint led to the arrest of the couple.
Clement Frank was formally charged with defilement and impregnating a minor. Mary Frank was charged with facilitating the abortion of the pregnancy.
Both were brought before a court in Lagos State. The court ordered them remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings related to their alleged conduct.
