Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola recently revealed the heartbreaking reason behind her single status, explaining that her soul mate passed away.
In an interview with fellow actor Emmanuel Ehumadu, Akintola shared that it took her a long time to find someone she truly connected with, and his untimely death has left her reluctant to enter a marriage with someone else.
Reflecting on the loss, the actress explained, “He died. I don’t talk about it, but he’s gone. Do you know how long it took me to find him? A very long time.” Akintola emphasized her belief in the sanctity of marriage and her reluctance to marry just for the sake of it, saying, “If you are not going to be truthful to your vows, then why are you doing it? The person I could see forever with is gone.”
However, Akintola hasn’t entirely ruled out the possibility of remarrying. She acknowledged that if she finds someone she can spend the rest of her life with, she would consider marriage again, no matter her age. “If I ever see someone and I see forever with that person, I will do it, even if I am 82.”
The seasoned actress also spoke candidly about the challenges of marriage, stating, “Marriage is difficult, very difficult, and you have to do it with someone you know you can stay with forever.”
Akintola, who made her acting debut in the 1995 movie Owo Blow, has become a celebrated figure in Nollywood. She followed up her debut with the film Out of Bounds alongside Richard Mofe Damijo in 1997 and was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards.
