Michy Batshuayi has expressed his readiness to lead Galatasaray’s attack following an injury to captain Mauro Icardi. The Turkish Super Lig champions suffered a major blow when Icardi, the former Argentina international, was ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury sustained before the last international break.
Icardi has been a key player for Galatasaray this season, forming a dynamic partnership with Victor Osimhen in a two-man attacking system.
With Icardi sidelined, Batshuayi has been tipped to step in and fill the void alongside Osimhen. The Belgian international, known for his versatility and technical prowess, has declared himself prepared for the challenge.
“I can play as a single forward or a double forward,” Batshuayi stated. “Victor is good at aerial balls because he is tall. He also makes deep runs, while I am good technically on my side.”
Batshuayi’s confidence and skill set make him a strong candidate to complement Osimhen, who has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s success this season. The club’s supporters will be hopeful that the new partnership can maintain the attacking momentum that Icardi and Osimhen established.
Galatasaray aims to defend their Super Lig title and push for further success, Batshuayi’s role will be critical in navigating the challenges ahead.
