La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have officially rejected Barcelona’s attempt to register players, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season. The news was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in a widely shared tweet.
The decision comes as a blow for Barcelona, who are now planning to take legal action by going to court. This rejection is reportedly tied to the club’s struggles with La Liga’s wage cap and financial fair play regulations. The Spanish Federation also cited rules that prevent re-registering players once their licenses are canceled in the same season.
Both players were initially registered by Barcelona earlier in the season but are now ineligible to participate in matches. Dani Olmo, signed from RB Leipzig for €60 million last summer, could even leave the club amid interest from Premier League teams.
Barcelona’s financial troubles continue to impact their squad planning, as they failed to meet deadlines to comply with La Liga’s financial rules. Their next step will involve an appeal to the Administrative Sports Court (CSD) to resolve the matter.
For now, both Olmo and Pau Victor have been removed from Barcelona’s official squad list, leaving their future uncertain.
