The disorder that erupted during the All Progressives Congress’ North-East zonal meeting in Gombe State is beginning to reverberate through the party, as key stakeholders voice concern over the incident.
The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence issued a statement condemning the events at the gathering, asserting that the conduct observed “does not represent the values of the party.” Okpanachi Ogah, the group’s FCT Coordinator, demanded a formal apology from Deputy National Chairman, North-East, Mustapha Salihu, citing “unacceptable behavior” by certain members at the meeting.
Ogah urged party stakeholders across the North to set aside individual ambitions and rally behind the national leadership to forge a cohesive strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that youth engagement should be anchored in dialogue rather than confrontation, and called on young party members to “reject violence and embrace peaceful discussion.”
Highlighting the importance of unity, the Arewa youth group warned that victory in 2027 hinges on meticulous planning and collaboration, not internal disputes.
They encouraged restraint, loyalty to the party’s vision, and a renewed focus on collective objectives to strengthen the APC’s prospects.
