Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has announced the establishment of a Ministry of Livestock Development, a decision effective immediately.
This move aligns with the governor’s broader initiative to enhance the agricultural sector and improve livestock management in the state.
The announcement came through a statement issued by the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Governor Buni has instructed the SSG, the Head of Service, and the Commissioner for Agriculture to define the new ministry’s mandate, secure office accommodations, and deploy staff to ensure its prompt operation.
Yobe State’s creation of this ministry makes it the second state in Nigeria to take such a step, following the example set by neighboring Borno State.
Governor Babagana Zulum had appointed his Deputy, Usman Umar Kadafur, as the overseer of the Ministry of Fishery and Livestock to lead similar initiatives.
