The Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has granted bail to Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, in connection with an alleged ₦80 billion fraud case.
Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided over the hearing on Friday, set the bail amount at ₦500 million.
As part of the conditions, Bello is required to provide two sureties with properties located in Abuja. The court stipulated that the title documents of these properties must be verified by the Deputy Chief Registrar.
Also, he sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, and Bello himself must surrender his international passport and submit recent passport photographs alongside the sureties.
Until the bail conditions are fulfilled, Justice Nwite has ordered that Bello remain in custody at the Kuje Correctional Center in Abuja.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Bello on a 19-count charge, primarily focused on allegations of money laundering. During the court session, the former governor pleaded not guilty to all charges.
