Tori Spelling, the 51-year-old actress known for Beverly Hills, 90210, and her family narrowly escaped the devastating Los Angeles fires. In an emotional Instagram post on Friday, January 10, Spelling shared her frightening experience fleeing the flames with her five children and pets.
“For days, I watched the destruction and lived in fear,” Spelling began. “I didn’t want to post because social media was already full of sorrowful losses and helpful updates. But last night, we had to evacuate.”
Spelling detailed how she and her children: Liam (17), Stella (16), Hattie (13), Finn (12), and Beau (7) along with three large dogs, a cat, and a ferret, had to leave their home unprepared. Despite friends advising her to pack earlier, she admitted to panicking as she crammed her family into an SUV, grabbing only photo albums before driving north on the 101 freeway.
During the escape, Spelling described driving through smoke-filled air, which even seeped through the car vents. One of her children, who has asthma, struggled with the conditions as she guided them with motherly instincts. “I told my kids, ‘This is scary, but hopeful. We’ll drive through it and be okay. I promise.’”
As they passed through smoke and chaos, Spelling reached out to her friend Jami Schwartz, who works with Airbnb. Despite the short notice, Airbnb quickly found shelter for her family and pets. Spelling expressed deep gratitude to Schwartz and the Airbnb team, including Taylor Gandy, who stayed in contact until they were safely housed.
The family eventually arrived at a serene Airbnb location with a koi pond and butterfly sanctuary, providing a moment of peace after their ordeal. “We are among the lucky ones,” Spelling reflected, adding that the experience felt like something out of a movie.
