Plateau United suffered a setback in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance on Saturday. The match took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The Peace Boys found themselves trailing after Bendel Insurance’s Uche Collins opened the scoring. Kayode Oke later doubled the lead for the home side, leaving Plateau United with a steep hill to climb. Doyin Olawale managed to pull one back for Plateau United, but it was not enough to salvage a result.
Speaking after the match, Plateau United’s technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, described the loss as unfortunate but expressed optimism for the future. “We approach every game with the mindset to win, and we will continue to fight for better results next time,” he stated in a post-match interview.
The defeat leaves Plateau United in 18th place on the NPFL table with 15 points, raising concerns about their position in the league standings. Despite this setback, Mangut assured fans that the team remains committed to improving their performance in the matches ahead.
Bendel Insurance, buoyed by goals from Collins and Oke, continue their solid form in the league, while Plateau United faces the challenge of climbing out of the relegation zone.
