Ibadan Court Orders Remand of Two in Alleged Murder Case

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has ordered the remand of two individuals, Seyi Diekola and Shiwe Ese, in a correctional facility in connection with an alleged murder. The court issued the directive on Tuesday during a preliminary hearing on the case.

The two defendants, whose addresses remain undisclosed, face charges of conspiracy and murder. However, Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair refrained from taking their pleas, citing a lack of jurisdiction.

The magistrate instructed law enforcement to transfer the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal review and guidance. The matter has been adjourned for mention on February 18, 2025.

Inspector Oladejo Balogun, the prosecutor, revealed that the alleged crime occurred on November 21, 2024, around 8:00 p.m., in the Akanran area of Ibadan. The defendants are accused of conspiring to fatally shoot Kazeem Amzat in the head.

The charges leveled against the duo fall under Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. These sections address criminal conspiracy and unlawful killing, respectively.
