Barcelona Faces Struggles to Register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor

FC Barcelona is currently facing serious challenges in registering two key players, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, for the second half of the season.

The Spanish football giant has run into trouble with LaLiga’s strict financial rules, which have blocked the club from adding the players to its squad.

Dani Olmo who was signed from RB Leipzig in August 2024 for €55 million, and Pau Víctor, a young talent promoted from Barcelona’s B team, cannot yet play officially for the club. LaLiga has rejected Barcelona’s attempts to register them, saying the club hasn’t met the financial fair play requirements.

In an effort to resolve the situation, Barcelona has now turned to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), asking for special licenses to allow the players to compete. This is seen as one of the club’s last options to keep the players involved in upcoming games.

Barcelona is also working on financial solutions, such as selling VIP seats at its future stadium, Spotify Camp Nou, to raise the money needed to meet LaLiga’s requirements.

If the club cannot sort this out by January 2, 2025, both players could become free agents, meaning they would be free to sign with other teams. This has already drawn interest from big European clubs, especially Premier League teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal, who are keeping an eye on Dani Olmo’s situation.
